The 2027 Japan Cup calendar has been revised, with the previously announced season finale at Suzuka moving to June 12/13.
SRO’s domestic multi-class championship comprising GT3, GT4 and GTC classes joins the existing GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS event instead of the Suzuka 1000km, which it will continue to support later this year.
Japan Cup’s 2027 season finale will now take place at Okayama on August 7/8. This event and date remains unchanged from the eight-race provisional calendar originally revealed in June.
The calendar’s restructure creates a more favourable schedule for teams and drivers considering both a Japan Cup campaign and entry into the Suzuka 1000km, which from next season becomes a joint Intercontinental GT Challenge and Super GT300 round.
It also doubles the number of events shared with GT World Asia, which is already joining Japan Cup at Fuji on July 10/11. Meanwhile, the standalone season opener remains unchanged, with Mobility Resort Motegi – a Japan Cup venue in 2023 – scheduled for May 15-16.
Fuji will again host the now traditional pre-season Japan Cup group test in March, with the precise date to be announced in due course.
As a whole, Japan Cup’s calendar now comprises the country’s ‘big four’ circuits and greater degree of logistical efficiency. Additionally, changes to test sessions and tyre allocations have been confirmed, resulting in a schedule that makes cost reduction easier to achieve than ever before.
