> Result: FP1

Jazeman Jaafar made the perfect start to Triple Eight Racing’s Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia debut by setting fastest time on home soil at a sunny Sepang earlier today.

The #888 Mercedes-AMG GT3, which the Malaysian shares with Prince Ibrahim of the Johor Royal Family, recorded a best of 2m03.885s with seven minutes remaining to jump ahead of Absolute Racing’s long-time pace-setter, Dennis Olsen, by 0.362s.

The #912 Porsche was sandwiched by Mercedes-AMGs courtesy of Craft-Bamboo Racing’s Alessio Picariello who also set his fastest time in the first half of the 45-minute session.

Another two Porsches were next up, Panther/AAS Motorsport’s 911 GT3 R driven by Alexandre Imperatori leading Mathias Beche’s Modena Motorpsort example, while Frederik Schandorff’s VSR Lamborghini Huracan completed the top-six.

Solite Indigo Racing’s Mercedes-AMG and the #27 HubAuto Corsa Ferrari finished seventh and eighth, respectively, ahead of Absolute Racing and JRM’s Porsches.

A brief red flag period to retrieve Craft-Bamboo’s GT4-spec Mercedes-AMG from the gravel was the only interruption to a session in which BMW Team Studie topped the GT4 times.

The M4 shared by 2018 championship runners-up Takayuki Kinoshita and Sunako Jukuchou set a best of 2m17.893s to finish 1.9s clear of Santoso and Chong’s Team iRace.Win Mercedes-AMG and Craft-Bamboo.

Friday’s second practice session begins at 15:45 (+8 GMT). Follow live timing here on the #GTWorldChAsia website.
