Craft-Bamboo made it two fastest times from three sessions this morning at Korea International Circuit where Maxi Goetz posted the fastest time in Official Practice ahead of qualifying.
The German opened his weekend by going quickest in FP1 and returned to the top late in the third session with a 2m08.625s. The Mercedes-AMG he shares with Jeffrey Lee in Alessio Picariello’s absence pipped Panther/AAS Motorsport’s Alex Imperatori by just 0.057s after the Swiss driver moved ahead halfway through the 30-minute session.
Championship leaders Tanart Sathienthirakul and Philip Hamprecht were quiet yesterday but finally showed their speed ahead of qualifying. Absolute Racing’s #911 Porsche finished 0.7s off the ultimate pace and just 0.014s ahead of the sister car shared by Yuan Bo and Leo Ye Hongli.
Local favourites Solite Indigo Racing were another 0.022s further back in fifth while Craft-Bamboo’s other two Mercedes-AMGs finished sixth and seventh. The best of the Audis - Absolute’s #12 example - completed the top-eight.
Yesterday’s pace-setting Triple Eight Mercedes-AMG was content to finish 17th. However. Shane van Gisbergen is bound to be a threat in qualifying later today give his time FP2 was 0.2s faster than Goetz’s.
Elsewhere, BMW Team Studie maintained its 100% record by again topping the GT4 class. Sunako Jukuchou again posted the car’s fastest time, although his 2m24.511s was only 0.22s faster than Setiawan Santoso (Team iRace.Win) who improved on his final lap. Frank Yu (Craft-Bamboo_ completed the top-three 0.2s further back.
