Melvin Moh lowered yesterday’s fastest time by three tenths to top this morning’s Official Practice session at Shanghai.

Craft-Bamboo Racing’s #55 Mercedes-AMG lapped in 2m06.038s to beat Absolute Racing’s Porsche driven by Leo Ye Hongli by 0.581s. Indeed, no-one came close to bettering Moh’s benchmark during a final 40 minutes in which only four drivers dipped below 2m07s.

One of them was JRM’s Chris van der Drift who, along with Anstone Racing’s Naoki Yokomizo, ensured three Chinese teams finished inside the overall top-four.

Triple Eight and TSRT completed the top-six ahead of Indigo Racing’s championship-leading Mercedes-AMG, which rebounded after finishing only 20th yesterday. The Korean entry MG Choi shares with Manuel Metzger finished just 0.063s clear of title rivals Philip Hamprecht and Tanart Sathienthirakul (Absolute Racing) and another 0.037s ahead of Weiron Tan and Martin Rump who must win both races to stand any chance of pinching the title.

Further back, Ringo Chong once again finished fastest of the GT4 contingent after also setting his best time on the 20-minute mark.

Team iRace.Win’s Mercedes-AMG was 1.1s quicker than GTO Racing with TTR’s Brian Lee and Tony Fong, and another 0.6s clear of team-mates Keo Chang and Joe Chi.

Today’s qualifying session begins at 12:05 CST (GMT +8). Watch it live right here on Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia’s website.
