Sepang: Heinrich hits the front in second practice

> Practice 2 Result

Laurin Heinrich topped the times by just under a second in Official Practice 2 at Sepang this afternoon.

The Porsche he shares with last year's title contender Lu Wei led an Origine Motorsport one-two ahead of Saturday's qualifying session and race. Fabian Schiller's Craft-Bamboo Mercedes-AMG completed the top-three.

Second practice was noticeably slower than the first, Heinrich the only driver to trouble Franky Cheng's lunchtime benchmark. Ultimately, the German fell 0.001s shy of the FAW Audi but was still significantly quicker than anyone else in Practice 2.

His first representative lap of 2m03.734s easily beat early pace-setter Daniel Morad, while his next - 2m02.972s - put him further clear out front. No-one would come close to matching it.

Behind, Ye and Schiller were separated by 0.2s, while Jordan Love backed up his second place in the opening session with fourth for Triple Eight JMR.

Absolute Corse was next up in the hands of Finn Gehrsitz, and Team 5ZIGEN's Nissan completed the top-six.

Franky Cheng ended the day with fastest time overall but the FAW Audi he shares with Adderly Fong managed no better than 16th in the second session. It was still, however, the leading Silver entry.

Nevertheless, the session's pace was perhaps best demonstrated by two Am class cars finishing in the overall top-10. Ben Porter and AMAC's Porsche finished eighth overall - one position ahead of The Spirit of FFF Racing.

Qualifying begins at 10:30 on Saturday. Watch it live SRO's GT World YouTube channel.
