Origine Motorsport geared up for a potential championship-clinching weekend by finishing one-two in the second Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS practice session at Okayama this afternoon.
Leo Ye Hongli led team-mate Bastian Buus by 0.252s after setting fastest time of the week so far: 1m28.683s. The Hong Kong squad could wrap up the teams' crown with an event to spare on Sunday.
Buus' time was a further two tenths quicker than Alessio Picariello's best for Absolute Racing, which nevertheless ensured 911s locked out the top three positions.
Absolute's Silver class-leading Audi shared by Akash Nandy and James Yu prevented Stuttgart's cars from finishing one-through-four, albeit by only 0.021s from Dorian Boccolacci whose Phantom Pro entry once again featured amongst the first five cars.
And the 5ZIGEN Nissan also underlined its lunchtime pace by completing the top six in Yu Kanamaru's hands. Tellingly, perhaps, his co-driver Hirobon then set the pace in the subsequent Bronze session.
Six tenths might have covered the top four cars, but the same margin accounted for positions five to seventeen in what looks set to be a tightly contested midfield battle tomorrow when qualifying precedes this weekend's first hour-long race.
Track action begins at 09:00 JST.
