Yuan and Ye reunite for title defence with Origine

Reigning champions Origine Motorsport, Bob Yuan and Leo Yi Hongli will defend their GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS teams’ and drivers’ titles together this year as part of an expanded three-car entry.

2024 championship contender Lu Wei also returns to the familiar surroundings of his #4 911 GT3 R where he’s joined by Porsche drivers Bastian Buus and Alessio Picariello.

And Kerong Li and Anders Fjordbach join forces in a new third entry, which was originally confirmed in early March.

Origine was the standout performer last year when its two crews won four times and finished first and third in the overall standings. Yuan and Ye also completed a clean sweep by adding the Silver-Am crown to their drivers’ and teams’ successes.

Lu topped the standings for most of the season and headed into the finale 16 points clear of his team-mates. But victory in Shanghai’s decider, allied to Lu’s retirement from the opening race, helped Yuan and Ye to overturn their deficit.

Those results also helped Picariello to finish second overall, while Origine’s dominance saw it retain the teams’ crown by 104 points.

Both of last year’s liveries have received subtle updates over the winter ahead of Sepang’s season opener next weekend (April 11-13).
