The inaugural SRO GT Cup calendar is now complete following confirmation that Pingtan Ruyi Lake International City Circuit will host rounds three and four on June 28-29.
The semi-street circuit joins Shanghai, Beijing and Macau on this year’s schedule.
Pingtan replaces Zhuhai, which appeared on the provisional calendar issued in January. And its new date is no coincidence, either, as SRO GT Cup’s event will be part of the Pingtan-Macau Culture Month.
2025’s campaign began in spectacular fashion with 33 cars – the largest GT4 entry ever assembled in Asia – contesting the Formula 1 Heineken Chinese Grand Prix support races last month.
But while the GP venue is recognised around the world, Pingtan’s picturesque circuit – which combines modern urban and coastal backdrops – remains largely unknown outside of China.
Opened in 2022, the track features two layouts that incorporate Pingtan Island's existing public roads, purpose-built sections and permanent pit garages. Both SRO GT Cup races will be held on the 2.9-kilometre, 14-corner circuit already used by the likes of China Endurance and F4 Chinese championships.
The FIA has also confirmed the date of 2025’s Macau Grand Prix (November 13-16), which – as previously announced – features SRO GT Cup’s season finale: the Greater Bay Area GT Cup.
First and second place finishes in Shanghai have helped David Chen Weian establish an early lead over Han Lichao in the Silver standings, while Moritz Berrenberg tops the Am championship after claiming both class victories.
