Mandalika: Krohn quick off the mark to top Free Practice

Jesse Krohn made an instant impression on his first GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS appearance since 2023 by topping Free Practice at Mandalika by almost 0.5s.

The former BMW factory driver joins Team KRC this weekend and put that knowledge of the M4 to good use by lapping Indonesia’s MotoGP venue in 1m28.633s.

That was two tenths faster than Jaxon Evans managed in Thursday’s quickest test session and half-a-second clear of nearest Free Practcice rival Klaus Bachler who moved Absolute Racing’s Porsche up the order twice in quick succession over the final five minutes.

Home favourite, series debutant and leading Silver contender Sean Gelael was top of the times until Krohn intervened with five minutes left, but the Garage 75 Ferrari he drives solo this weekend was still sufficiently quick to finish third overall and just a fraction behind the second placed Porsche.

FAW Audi Sport Asia Team Phantom’s Yu Kuai made it as many different manufacturers inside the top four, while Brendon Leitch completed the first five in Harmony’s Ferrari.

Silver-Am top spot went to Climax Racing’s Mercedes-AMG driven by Elias Seppanen, while Wang Zhongwei in the Origine Motorsport’s Porsche was fastest in the Am class.
