> Combined test result: Day 1
HubAuto Corsa’s Leo Ye Hongli topped the first day of Blancpain GT Series Asia testing at Sepang earlier today ahead of this weekend’s season opener in Malaysia.
The #27 Ferrari 488 GT3 set a best of 2m04.462s to top the second session and day’s overall running by just 0.011s from GruppeM Racing’s Raffaele Marciello. Both Ye and the Italian were 0.4s inside the latter’s 2017 lap record.
FFF Racing Team by ACM’s #19 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 – driven by Martin Kodric – was two tenths shy of the second placed Mercedes-AMG, while KCMG’s Tsugio Matsuda (Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3) and Phoenix Racing Asia’s Alex Yoong (Audi R8 LMS GT3) made it as many different manufacturers inside the top-five.
GruppeM’s second Mercedes-AMG rounded out the first six positions courtesy of its fastest time from session one.
Meanwhile, debutants BMW Team Studie were fastest of the GT4 contingent. Their #81 M4 driven by Takayuki Kinoshita and Sunako Jukuchou set a best of 2m18.799s to beat Clearwater Racing’s McLaren 570S by 0.457s. Team iRace.Win’s Merecdes-AMG was third.
Testing continues tomorrow ahead of the weekend’s first official practice sessions on Friday.
