RESULT: FP3
HubAuto Corsa’s #27 Ferrari 488 GT3 set the fastest time of the week in final practice at Sepang this morning ahead of today’s qualifying session and season-opening race. Elsewhere, Mercedes-AMG maintained their 100% GT4 record by once again pacing the class thanks to GruppeM Racing.
Another fine and dry day greeted teams and drivers for the final 30-minute practice session, and it was Nick Foster who made the best of the conditions to set a fastest time of 2m02.849s. That was 0.160s quicker than fellow Australian Josh Burdon could manage aboard Absolute Racing’s Audi R8 LMS GT3 and another three tenths clear of HubAuto’s second Ferrari driven by Tim Slade.
Yesterday’s pace-setters were up next, GruppeM Racing’s #888 Mercedes-AMG beating the #18 KCMG Nissan to fourth by just 0.073s, while Absolute’s two remaining Audis completed the top-seven. FFF Racing Team by ACM’s #19 Lamborghini finished eighth.
Meanwhile, in GT4, GruppeM Racing maintained Mercedes-AMG’s grip on the class with a new fastest time of the week courtesy of Reinhold Renger. The German’s 2m16.397s was almost 1.4s quicker than yesterday’s serial pace-setters, iRace.Win, could manage.
Clearwater Racing’s McLaren 570S, the #81 BMW Team Studie M4 and Craft-Bamboo’s Porsche Cayman completed the top-five.
