> Craft-Bamboo top the GT4 times
> Result: Official Practice
Modena Motorsports’ Mathias Beche posted the fastest time in Official Practice at Sepang this morning ahead of qualifying and the weekend’s first 60-minute race.
A red flag with two minutes remaining prevented anyone from improving on the Swiss driver’s 2m04.090s, which he set just before the session’s premature end.
The Porsche therefore finished 0.118s clear of Anstone Racing’s Mercedes-AMG shared by Naoki Yokomizo and Xu Wei. Andre Couto’s Audi Sport Asia Team TSRT R8 was less than two hundredths further back, while ARN Racing’s 911 GT3 R driven by Yuta Kamimura finished fourth.
The slightly damp start to the morning meant Dennis Olsen’s FP2 time remained the weekend’s benchmark, and it was the same Absolute Racing combination that claimed fifth, albeit some 0.8s shy of yesterday’s time.
The #88 Mercedes-AMG was once again fastest of Craft-Bamboo’s GT3 contingent courtesy of Alessio Picariello, VSR’s Lamborghini was seventh and home favourite Jazeman Jaafar completed the top-eight.
Elsewhere, Craft-Bamboo’s Jean-Marc Merlin and Frank Yu topped the GT4 category by half-a-second from Ringo Chong and Setiawan Santoso’s Team iRace.Win Mercedes-AMG, while yesterday’s pace-setters BMW Team Studie were third.
Today’s four-segment qualifying session begins at 11:35. Watch it live here on the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia website.
