Craft-Bamboo Racing will represent GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS during this weekend’s charity SRO E-Sports event at Monza.

Team member and accomplished sim racer Charles Theseira, who represented Singapore at the FIA Motorsport Games in Italy last year, has automatically qualified for Sunday’s Assetto Corsa event.

Theseira - who will drive Craft-Bamboo’s #77 Mercedes-AMG GT3 - is one of 80 real-world and pro sim drivers, as well as 10 more members of the Assetto Corsa community, competing this weekend. The collective top-40 drivers from two 60-minute qualifying races will progress to Sunday afternoon’s one-hour finale.

Amongst the all-star line-up are drivers from SRO’s regional GT World Challenge championships, global Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli, and regional series like British GT.

The real-life Monza circuit was set to open the 2020 GT World Challenge Europe season prior to the global COVID-19 pandemic, and will now provide a fitting stage for the online contest.

“It’s a huge privilege to be representing Craft-Bamboo Racing in the world of eSports driving a virtual Mercedes-AMG GT3, and even more so for a good cause during this challenging time brought about by the COVID-19 virus,” said Theseira. “It is heartwarming to see the motorsport community coming together in this difficult time, to raise funds in the hope of finding an end to this global health pandemic. I’m really excited to be racing online with lots of real-world pro GT drivers, and I have confidence in the car, so big thanks to Craft-Bamboo Racing for the support, and I can’t wait to show what I can do in this world class grid.”
