One of motorsport’s leading suspension suppliers, KW Automotive, has become an official partner of Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS.
The acclaimed German company’s experience and expertise has been hard earned during more than 30 years of production and competition that has primarily focused on the GT racing sector but also encompasses high performance road cars.
KW currently has outposts in seven countries worldwide. However, its products are particularly revered in Asia where its Japanese, Chinese and Taiwanese bases cater for the increasing demand for motorsport and automotive applications across the continent.
KW’s trademarked ‘Yellow-Purple’ branding will appear on all Fanatec GT Asia entries from Fuji onwards (June 16-18). It will be recognisable to motorsport teams and fans the world over but represents far more than simple eye-catching aesthetics. KW’s sophisticated regulated suspension system includes a product portfolio of hydraulics, electronics, sensor technology, control units and damper controls, as well as the necessary know-how for the application and calibration of complex dynamic chassis control systems.
That capability has seen KW become one of the leading suspension suppliers to manufacturer and customer motorsport programmes around the world. The company’s patented valve technology suspension systems have won the world’s toughest GT race, the Nurburgring 24 Hours, eight times since 2002, while its list of recent honours also includes the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, Bathurst 12 Hour, Kyalami 9 Hour, Dubai 24 Hours and ADAC GT Masters title.
In addition to its core motorsport business, KW develops and produces manually and adaptively adjustable coilovers and other suspension components for the road car aftermarket as well as the accessories programmes of various car manufacturers in the premium segment.
Oliver Scherbaum, KW Automotive GmbH: “KW Automotive is proud to become a partner of Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS this year. We have a long and successful history in GT racing that continues to this day with Porsche and BMW whose GT3 programmes rely on the performance of KW’s homologated suspension components. We look forward to further showcasing this technology for both the road and track across Asia through our direct collaboration with SRO.”
Benjamin Franassovici, Championship General Manager: “We are very pleased to welcome another premium partner to Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS. KW Automotive’s suspension technology is truly world-class, proven in the toughest GT racing environments, and already in use throughout our paddock. But it’s also a European company that has gained a loyal following across Asia, and particularly in the aftermarket road car sector where its premium products are held in the highest regard. We look forward to welcoming them for the first time at Fuji.”
Following the opening round in Thailand, Fuji hosts the first of this year’s Fanatec Japan Cup events this weekend before the championship moves on to Suzuka, Motegi and Okayama. Sepang then closes out the regular Fanatec GT Asia season in September.
