Chang: Spinelli leads Absolute Corse 1-2 in testing

> Result: Combined testing

Loris Spinelli led an Absolute Corse and Lamborghini one-two in GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS testing at Chang today.

The newly-liveried B-Quik Huracan lived up to its name by setting a 1m34.069s in the second session, which began dry before turning wet. That was enough to beat the sister machine and top Silver-Am contender driven by Akash Nandy by just 0.046s, while Jordan Love lapped one thousandth slower in the first of JMR’s Corvettes.

The team’s second Z06 set the pace this morning in Jordan Love’s hands. His Test 1 time was less than a tenth down on Spinelli’s ultimate benchmark and fractions slower than he then managed en route to fourth in the afternoon.

Test 2 was incredibly close. Seven thousandths separated the fastest four entries and nine tenths a top 19 that featured all eight manufacturers.

LM Corsa was the quickest Ferrari contender in fifth overall thanks to Giancarlo Fisichella who joins Shigekazu Wakisaka for the second time this year in Thailand.

Markus Winkelhock, a winner here last year with Audi, finished sixth in Phantom’s R8, while the 5ZIGEN Nissan and Climax Mercedes-AMG also featured amongst the combined overall top 10. All but the latter’s fastest time was set this afternoon.

Silver championship leaders Cheng Congfu and Yu Kuai finished eighth, while EBM set the fastest Am class time.

Rounds 5 and 6 officially begin on Friday with Free Practice, Pre-Qualifying and the Bronze session.
