GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS’s season finale at the Beijing Street Circuit will now take place on October 3-4.
Local government approval, aligning with the national Golden Week holiday, and expected warmer temperatures are the primary reasons behind the move.
The new date falls just two weeks earlier than originally announced. However, Beijing’s climate is consistently colder from mid-October onwards. The expected milder temperatures will enhance spectator experience – something organisers are keen to build on following the record 30,000 attendance earlier this year. In this respect, coinciding with the eight-day Golden Week holiday, which begins on October 1, was also considered beneficial.
Equally, moving to the first weekend in October alleviates the previous clash with Europe’s Endurance Cup finale at Portimao, whilst the Indianapolis 8 Hour – which rounds out both the America and Intercontinental GT Challenge seasons – now takes place the week after Beijing instead of before. Avoiding these events will increase the opportunity for factory drivers to join the entry.
E-Town’s temporary circuit will also host SRO GT Cup over the same weekend. Its 2026 calendar will be confirmed in due course.
